《Edgar Allan Poe》
Edgar Allan Poe: Edgar Allan Poe was an American author, poet, editor, and literary critic, considered part of the American Romantic Movement. Born in Boston, he was second child of two actors. He attended the University of Virginia for one semester but left due to lack of money. In January 1845 Poe published his poem “The Raven”, to instant success.
《The Philosophy of Composition》
The Philosophy of Composition: The Philosophy of Composition is an 1846 essay written by American writer Edgar Allan Poe that elucidates a theory about how good writers write when they write well. He uses the composition of his own poem “The Raven” as an example. The essay first appeared in the April 1846 issue of Graham’s Magazine. It is uncertain if it is an authentic portrayal of Poe’s own method.

The Raven: The Raven is a narrative poem by American writer Edgar Allan Poe. First published in January 1845, the poem is often noted for its musicality, stylized language, and supernatural atmosphere. He claimed to have written the poem very logically and methodically, intending to create a poem that would appeal to both critical and popular tastes, as he explained in his 1846 follow up essay “The Philosophy of Composition”.

The story was published in James Russell Lowell’s The Pioneer in January 1843. “The Tell-Tale Heart” is widely considered a classic of the Gothic fiction genre and is one of Poe’s most famous short stories.
